Sometimes things just grow into the world organically, often when and where you never expected them to show up. When we founded 500 Rockets Digital Agency, in Austin, Texas, we intended it to be a small, boutique marketing firm servicing mostly tech clients in the Austin startup sector. When Matt Brutsche converted the shed in his backyard into a teched-out super shed, he was just looking for a nice place to work a few steps from his back door. And when Matt and Dan started working together in that shed, neither expected the massive white board to become the focus of hours and ideation about exactly how to best design new forms of marketing to match up with new forms of distribution and the unstoppable flow of new software and new tools popping up every day.
But that's what happened. And it quickly became clear that beyond offering services to hungry Texas startups, we were also following a bigger vision -- the intellectualizing of modern marketing itself. It was this constant drive to find repeatable answers to our client's' real world problems that became the triggering force to open a think tank to collect, develop, and offer those answers to the world.
Because great ideas don't just happen. They grow organically, when you set the conditions to allow them to grow organically.
Even in a shed.
